Interview by Renee Begley 2006
Winged Wolf is widely known through the Vampire/Kin Community as a very serious minded and well versed young lady. She is not influenced by common views but by her own practical experiences. Sit back and enjoy all she has to say about a myriad of things that just might surprise you.
Interviewer: Good afternoon Winged Wolf. I’m glad you could join me today.
Winged Wolf: Thanks. I'm not sure I qualify as young any longer, however.
Interviewer:
Would you mind telling us a little about your
background and where you originally hail from?
Winged Wolf: Well, I was born in Michigan, grew up in a suburb near Detroit. Discovered the vamp community probably when I was about 15 years old, trying to figure out what was happening to me. Also began studying Wicca and folk magick then.
I was already aware of my therian nature, but I was unaware that there were others out there with the same traits. I would say that I showed therianthropic traits as early as kindergarten, and certainly by age 10, I believed I was "wolf-souled". But the emergence of vampiric traits in me around age 14 coincided with the beginning of my psi awakening, and that greatly alarmed me. I had several friends as well who were vampiric.
My first exposure to the vamp community, however, would
have to be when I read a story in a book called "True Tales of the Unknown:
The Uninvited."
I believe the author's last name was Jarvis.
The book was a collection of true-life stories, and
one of them dealt with a vampire who called herself Countess Misty, and attended
a Dark Shadows convention by invitation. I always thought the book title was
particularly ironic, as the convention paid for her airfare.
In any case, although her behavior would be considered a bit shocking by today's standards, she was represented as a real vampire, and that is when I realized what was happening to me. I was introduced by a friend to a pen-pal network that included exchanging letters, 'friendship books,' and music cassettes through the mail. Several of my correspondents were vampires. I was able to start comparing notes with them.
Interviewer:
I’m sure all of us would like to hear more about
your experiences with Vampirism and what you deem to be a vampire.
Would you please give us your take on the world of
the vampire?
Winged Wolf: Certainly. I was a sanguine vampire at that time. I don't think my definition of a vampire varies that greatly from the community's. I think a good definition is that a vampire is someone who needs to take blood and/or energy from others in order to maintain their health and well-being. The causes for this vary quite a lot.
Sang vampires of course generally have sunlight
sensitivity, tend to be nocturnal, and crave blood.
So this wasn't a very easy thing for a 14-year-old
to deal with, with so little information--and I was a very shy person.
The community itself was formed by often frightened,
sometimes desperate, people looking for information to explain their lives. They
came together to offer one another support.
I got to watch a lot of that happen.
Interviewer What theories do you have about these causes and do you have any scientific evidence to back them up or only personal experiences?
Winged Wolf: Well, scientific evidence for vampirism is sorely lacking. Really, none exists at all. The scientific community would label all vampires to be delusional at best at this point in time. Even with the physical symptoms, there is no detectable cause. My personal belief is that a very large part of even sanguine vampirism is attributable to subtle energy systems. That is, it has to do with the psychic at its base, not the physical or mental. Obviously until psi abilities are proven scientifically to the satisfaction of all, there will be no real scientific progress made in any areas that involve them.
However, I would not say that only my personal experiences
back up my theories and findings in all of this, not by a long shot. Quite a
large number of other people have been involved over the years.
Sanguine vampires, to my perception, have a life-energy deficiency. This is the energy in the core of a person's energy field, soul energy, if you will. It's not the same as the energy in the outer 'auric' field. I believe blood is a strong link to this energy. However, it doesn't seem that sang vampires can get by taking core-energy directly; they still crave blood, when they do so, at least most of them do. So what other factors are involved is still fairly mysterious. However, it can certainly prevent the health problems they tend to suffer from not feeding, so that's a step forward.
There are also psychic vampires who require core energy, and of course psi-vamps who need auric energy for various reasons.
Interviewer:
In various articles I have read concerning you,
you mention a cure. How did this come about and when you received your cure you
seemed to keep a connection with the Vampire Community via your Therianthropy?
Could you clarify all of this?
Sure, and it's entirely true, although I would say that I kept a tie to the vampire community out of continued curiosity and interest, as the overlap between the therian and vampire communities is fairly marginal. After my first marriage ended, I made a trip out to visit a friend who believed that he had detected the cause of sang vampirism. He believe that it was due to the presence of a symbiotic spirit entity that was influencing the person's energy system and nervous system, and from all I could tell, he was apparently correct--I was able to detect these entities in several other sang vampires, and a few other people could find them too, once they knew what to look for.
I was very ill at that time, bad rages, no donor, still a very shy person, and so I made the decision to ask him to remove the entity. I had no idea what would happen...heck, for all I knew, it could have killed me, lol. He was a bit reluctant to do it, but finally agreed. A lot has been made of the device he used in the process, but actually that was nothing more than a simple radionic device that merely creating a magnetic pulling effect, he removed the entity using his own skills, the device was harmless. The removal itself hurt sharply, and the settled into a dull but persistent pain that lasted for months and still caused pain years later upon exposure to foreign subtle energies. But it WORKED.
Within a day, the sunlight sensitivity was receding. Other traits faded out over the course of the next year. I thought I had found something TREMENDOUSLY important to the community, you know, the idea that people might actually have a choice in this. So I went and told them all about it.
It went over about as well as a fart in a church. rofl
Interviewer: Yes I can imagine it would be a new concept and one that wouldn't be accepted readily.
Winged Wolf:
I was still interested in vampirism, and felt
some obligation to continue helping people.
Of course, I now know that sang vampirism is often
an innate condition, and even when these entities are present in a person, they
may not necessarily be the CAUSE of their vampirism. At the time, it seemed
every sang that I or another skilled person scanned had one of them. I've helped
others remove the things over the years.
Most of the people gave into the impulse that I felt
for a while, and left the community without looking back.
I never heard from them again.
I assume that the removal worked for them as it did
for me, or we'd likely hear something from them, somewhere.
I'm sure there were more than a dozen people.
More recently my failures with this were publicized a lot. Each one taught me something new, but of course increased the skepticism of the community in general.
In one case, the person was an innate vampire...removing the symbiotic entity didn't alleviate their symptoms. This is what prompted me to look much harder to find out what the cause of innate sang vampirism was.
In another case, the person had had the entity since before birth, and their nervous system and energy systems were permanently altered by it; again, removing it didn't work. Most spectacularly, I made a mistake and thought that an entity or phenomenon that I saw in someone, Lady CG, was a symbiont when it was not.
There's more information on all of that in my book, too. You can find my book at http://www.lulu.com/wingedwolfpsion
Interviewer: I read the person who helped you was referred to as a Phoenix Vampire. Could you explain what that is as I personally have not heard it mentioned prior in the Community?
Winged Wolf: Hmm, no, actually that would be my former mentor, Anka. He is a phoenix psychic, not a vampire. The simplest way to explain a phoenix is to state that they are hyper-generators of psi energy (auric energy). He's a very skilled and experienced psion, specializing particularly in energy working.
Phoenixes are rare, a great deal more so than vampires, but I know several of them at the moment.
Interviewer: What is the actual nature of a Phoenix? Are they considered Otherkin or merely a form of psychic as you mentioned?
Winged Wolf: No, a form of psychic, psi specialty. They're born with these traits. There are other psi specialties as well. I would consider some psi-vamps to be specialties, too.
Interviewer:
I am aware you are the founder of the Psion
Guild.
How did that come about? What is the purpose of the group
and what would you say you have accomplished with such an organization?
Winged Wolf:
Well, Anka's other students had come up with the
concept of creating a "psionic union" sort of like, you know, "The Electrician's
Union".
The idea was to enable people to learn from those more
experienced, and to give them better access to information, emotional support,
that sort of thing.
So, I took that idea, expanded it a bit, got others
of like-mind together, and set it up.
My hope is that the Guild can one day provide a
single voice for a large number of psis, while maintaining their anonymity.
If we ever needed to create a political lobby, for
example, that would be one purpose it could certainly serve.
Primarily, it's there to provide services for its
members--all sorts of services.
We have a large website, an active forum and chat room, and we've added a fair amount of educational material over the years. So I would say, even though it's been very slow going, we've been beneficial for the psi community as a whole--and we're continuing to expand and improve.
We have an offline meeting each year too, an annual camping trip.
Interviewer: You mentioned previously you have written a book but hasn’t it been more than one? Could you tell us their titles and a little synopsis of each? Also where we might purchase them or would that be at the same site you mentioned earlier?
Winged Wolf:
Yes, I've written two books, fairly short, but
containing a good bit of information.
I've been told that they're quite worthwhile, and
have recieved only compliments so far.
The first is "Beginning Psionics:
A Psionics Training Manual".
It's just what it sounds like, a guide to getting
started with psionics training.
I plan to write at least one, possibly two more
books in that series.
The second book available now is "The Care and Feeding of Vampires: An Energy Workers' Guide to Real Vampirism." This is a very detailed explanation of real vampirism of all sorts, and it's aimed at people who are familiar with energy working. It's a bit too technical for non-energy-workers, in most cases. It details causes, potential cures, how to safely donate, how to stop attacks, all sorts of information. The intention is to make vampirism more acceptable and less mysterious to the OEC and the offline energy-worker community as well, I hope. They can both be had in e-book or paperback format from the site I mentioned earlier. I should also mention in passing that I don't advocate 'curing' vampirism in the majority of cases, and for most innate vampires it's impractical, if not necessarily impossible.
Interviewer: For those who might not know, could you give a brief definition of Psionics and Radionics?
Winged Wolf: Sure. Psionics is, fairly simply, the use of psychic abilities. This includes everything from ESP to psychokinesis (moving objects), to telepathy and remote viewing, etc. Psionics is a basic means for using these abilities in the most natural way possible, and the most logical and systematic way. The school of thought I was trained in doesn't use any types of energy other than auric/psi energy--we don't pull in external energy from other sources, we use only our own.
Radionics, and the related psychotronics or psionic devices, involves the study and use of machines that are designed to produce, augment, or otherwise affect psi phenomena. These are mostly very simple machines, and the best involve the use of iron or steel, magnets, copper (or other conductive material), arranged in various patterns, sometimes utilizing DC current. This is actually only a passing interest for me, and I don't own any devices at the moment, though I have designed and used a few on occasion.
Interviewer: Now I would like to go into other interests of yours. I understand you have a fondness for reptiles? Could you tell us a bit about that hobby?
Winged Wolf: I'm an amateur herpetoculturist (a person who raises and breeds reptiles and amphibians). My current health and living situation is such that I can’t currently own any reptiles, they're staying with a friend of mine right now; but I have kept and bred leopard geckos, and helped my friend out by incubating the eggs from his corn snakes. I plan to get more involved with the hobby again eventually.
It's quite an interesting hobby since reptiles have very exacting environmental requirements, so they're a lot more like fish than a bird or a hamster.
I simply find them beautiful and fascinating to watch.
They're fairly low-maintenance pets too, once all of
their caging and heating, humidity and shelter requirements are met.
Interviewer:
I also understand you have an interest in the
Paranormal and ghost hunting. Have you actually gone on any ghost hunts or
experienced any paranormal phenomenon first hand?
Winged Wolf:
I have experienced paranormal phenomena closer
than first hand, if you'll recall my explanation on the symbiont entity--that's
a bit TOO close. <G> I've perceived a lot of unusual things over the years.
I've gone looking for spirits a few times.
A lot of my experience comes from helping out people
who wander into the Guild room looking for help, and it turns out that some
entity is the cause of their problem.
I haven't seen any ghosts locally just yet, just a few spirit entities. There are some stories around here. Perhaps if I can get my health to improve, I'll get a group together and go check them out.
Interviewer:
What are your interests musically, artistically
and theatrically?
Winged Wolf: Well, my musical tastes are pretty eclectic. I grew up in the 80s, of course, so I like 80s rock. I like 'alternative', and some goth music, some metal. I like things like Enya and Loreena McKennitt, too. I can't stand rap or country music, though, or anything remotely like them.
Artistically, I have a fondness for fantasy art. I particularly enjoy the art of Nambroth and Dark Natasha at the moment. I've done a bit of art myself, but don't really consider myself an artist.
As for theater...I don't have a lot of interest in that. I like motion pictures, of course again, mostly SF, fantasy, or horror films.
Interviewer: Any special projects you have been working on of late you could tell us about?
Winged Wolf: Well, I'm continuing to research vampirism. In fact, I've become an energy donor, which was a bit of a big step for me. I had some fear issues to overcome. I'm sure anyone who has experienced blood rage can understand why. But it's been fine. I've been learning a LOT from doing so. At the moment, I have several things I would like to learn more about. For one thing, I would like to see whether sang vampires can have all of their needs met by taking core energy directly, AND using some of the substitutes promoted by folks like Lady CG, such as rare beefsteak. I think having that option would be very beneficial for folks, even though so many sangs seem reluctant to learn the energy working skills required.
I'd also like to learn more about various types of psi-vamps, to figure out what their innate capabilities are. I feel there must be some advantage to the arrangement of a pranic or sang vampire's energy system. They have all of these instincts to support their surviving and doing well, so I really feel this is more than a deficiency or defect. I'm looking for what may be positive about this.
Interviewer: Is there any personal message you would like to state to the Vampire/Kin/Alternative community before we close this interview?
Winged Wolf: Mostly, question everything. Even people who have been around for decades don't have all of the answers and may not even have the right ones. Use a lot of sources for information, and look into things for yourselves. The community really needs to work harder at getting basic information on what vampirism is, and how to deal with it. It's not just a 'lifestyle". For the rest of you: Keep it Real.

I also have a site on real vampirism with quite a lot of extensive information at http://parazoology.psionguild.org/Vampyrs/index.html
Interviewer: Thank you for taking this time this afternoon to tell us your views and philosophies and share a bit of you with our readers.
Winged Wolf:
No
problem, thank you for asking.
