Hello Vampires and Fiends, I got myself a good solid kick in the pants this
time. Turns out the rout I chose hasn't been maintained for over twelve years.
Too many blow-downs to count- thousands of feet in elevation gain- hard one
miles indeed- I averaged 13 miles in about 12 hours and there was 10 miles
between water sources. Had a couple'a close scrapes and sorry, hon. satellite
service is spotty at best in the mountains. Ah but this old boy is a trooper-
and so I percerviered. I saw my first moose! When I finally reached Monument
Creek the trail vanished in a massive meadow and so with no other recourse I
retraced my rout for another grueling kick in the pants. Lake of the Woods I
will always remember as La Loc du Boise. I will post pix soon. A cut finger and
a couple bumps and bruises received from doing a scary cartwheel fully loaded-
trekking polls and all- I'm sure it cost me one of my nine lives!

an alabaster statue of a maiden with an urn
in a glade in the forest might do
as a shrine or an alter or depository
for the flowers that I pick for you
but her eyes would never shine like your eyes shine
nor would a heart beat beneath her stone gold breast
nor could I ever hold her tender hand in mine
or share her quickened breath
an alabaster statue of a maiden with an urn
in a glade in the forest might be
the ideal woman for the ideal man
an ideal lost to me
for never would I we the cerebral rush
when our bodies touch in deepest sleep
nor would we any drunken oathes
or promises to keep
promise me you will always be my friend
promise me the Sun promise me the Wind
promise me the Stars the Moon and the Sea
and promise me that you will always be free

Victoria had a Cockatiel named Alpert
who sang gaily from his gilded cage
he dined on seed while she and I we dined on melon
she lined his cage with the society page
she lined his cage with the society page
I met her on a golden summer evening
'twas golden like her silken tresses fine
we made love in the fountain in the square downtown at midnight
Was it true love or was it too much wine?
Was it true love or was it too much wine?
I was young and restless rather wild then
living 'neath a railroad bridge downtown
she was a career girl with a condo-plex in old Saint Paul
she didn't mind takin' me out on the town
no, she didn't mind takin' me out on the town
And I pray Victoria is well and happy
in my dreams her golden tresses still blow free
as we rumble tumble all around her apartment house
me making love to her she making love to me
me making love to her she making love to me
Victoria, Victoria
Victoria had a cockatiel named Alpert

Staring out the window big rain coming down in sheets
the rain screams like a siren glad I found a place with eats
though the food's unappetizing and the atmosphere is dull
I thank the Lord above me that I'm in out of the cold
Monday morning 6 AM I've got to get to work
dreaming up a nightmare of a two legged skinny jerk
rolling out linguini for five thousand dimes a day
it's just my luck but what the fuck you've got to pay to play
The eggs are thin and runny and the coffee don't taste right
the spuds are cold and greasy and the waitress looks a fright
the witching hour's past me got to get on home to bed
to listen to the jazz combo roaring through my head
:o)
I'm gonna spin you a yarn my dear friend
it's got no beginning and it ain't got no end
it's about a sweet lady who drives me insane
I've always been crazy 'bout Sweet Mary, sweet Mary Jane
We've been puffin' tough well on twenty nine years
why that's long as some folks professional careers
since I was a child she's been blowin' my mind
she's never lets me down or treats me un, treats me unkind
Well early one morning we were up before down
highballin' south with the radio on
we were stampin' our feet and drummin' on the dash
flyin' on mushrooms and Afghani, Afghani hash-eesh!
'es 'am, illegal contraband!
We blasted through Portland with the sun on the rise
an angel eclipsed in my starry blue eyes
we were drivin' that white line through Eugene at noon
when we spotted a star spangled hot air ba, hot air balloon
making speeches!
Stoppin' at Ickies we all stretched our legs
we had coffee and taters and tofu for eggs
there were goth kids and dreadies skin heads and punks
wearin' spikey dog collars with hairdos like, hair doo’s like skunks
'es 'am, I had me one of them skunk hair doo’s once!
We gassed up puffed out and got on our way
on down that black and white Blue Ribbon Highway
there were Bald Eagles circlin' the afternoon sun
space blossom breakdown had surely be, surely begun
We've been road dogs forever and were still on our way
and we always have time just to pick up and play
we're gypsies and nomads and freaks of all kind
space blossom breakdown leave your troubles be, troubles behind
Now L's for linguini and S is for sauce
D's for the dressing when your salad gets tossed
maybe I'm crazy or am I insane?, but
Space Blossom reminds me of sweet Mary, sweet Mary Jane
She's cool as the North Wind she's wild as the sea
she's got dank nugs and kind buds and she smokes them with me
Space Blossom breaks down and treats me so right
come to me Space Blossom and love me to love me tonight
Of course sisters and brothers know love is the way
that's why its apropos now for me to say
I know you know they know we know it's no lie
that manna's from heavin' like rain's from the, raines from the sky
Like rainbows and starships and clouds that float by
the Sun, Moon, and Eagles they surely are high
sure as Angels in Heaven bestow us our creed
it's still a ten hour drive to Needles from, Needles from Weed
California!
No there ain't no beginnin' like there sure ain't no end
the moment's eternal my beautiful friend
sure as snowy capped mountains rise out of the sea
we all are Star Children comic and, cosmic and free
