Hello All:
I would like to share with you what is going on with the Lucid Dreaming study I am a part of.
I got there at 8:00 pm and they fed me a snack of ham sandwich chips and a drink and they explain all that they were going to do to me during the night. They explained the first night all they do is a monitored sleep watch and if I woke up they would hand me paper and pen to write the dream down or they could write it for me or use the recorder (explained below).
At 8:30pm they gave me a mild sleeping pill and told me to use the bathroom.
They attached to my body 120 blue wires that are attached to a little round disc with wires coming out and it all connects to a small box that connects to a bigger box. They apply gel on all little disc at the end of the wires and place them on head, arms, legs, back, neck.
They placed what looks like oxygen nose tub that goes around your neck but it is not oxygen it is used to monitor your breathing. A pulse monitor was placed on my finger to monitor my pulse every 2 hours throughout the night and a blood pressure cup on my arm to monitor my blood pressure every 2 hours as well.
They also had a tape recorder microphone taped to my chest incase I said talked in my sleep.
Then they asked me what time I normally go to bed and I told them between 2am in morning and 4 am.
They told me if I had to use bathroom in the night they would have to unplug the big wire from the large one and plug it in the portable one. It took them an hour to finish plugging me up I looked like a mass of wires and blue disc. They wheeled me to bath room and had me use it again then they helped me in to the bed and hook me up to machine.
They took my vital signs and told me it was time to sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the room very dark so sleep came to me at 10:00 pm.
At around 2:00 in morning they said I woke up and they unplugged me and plugged it into portable one I did not know what time it was but I asked so they told.
They woke me up at 6:00 am.
I cannot recall any dreams that I may have had throughout the night.
