Chapter 16 |
Just as Elizabeta and Sabin came into the sitting room Micah and Reign did too. Elizabeta smiled at the two men and went over to hug Reign and Sabin jumped up on him. “We are all pretty worried about Sarah.” She said. Both Micah and Reign nodded. Just then the Doctor came into the room with a big smile on his face. “Sarah is just fine you lot can relax, she is sleeping right now, but everything went smoothly and she should be healed up and ready to be bitten by the end of next week.” He said. Elizabeta walked over to the doctor. “Thank you ever so much.” She said hugging the Doctor. “Sarah will be asleep for sometime, the tea that she drank also has an herb in there that helps a person sleep, so she will be out for some time.” He said, “That will give me enough time to go back to my practice and get this transferred over to the other doctor and then I will be back.” He said. Everyone nodded. “I am going to go and check on her and then I am going to saddle up a horse and ride back to the city.” He said walking away. “Are you going to be able to make it before dawn?” Elizabeta asked. Doctor Malleus looked down at his watch. “Oh yes I have three hours, that will give me plenty of time to get there.” He said. Elizabeta nodded and looked at the two men.
“I am hungry, how about the rest of you?” Reign asked looking at Micah and Elizabeta. “I am famished.” Elizabeta said. “As am I M’Lord.” Micah answered. Reign nodded and grabbed one of the servants walking by. “Have chef whip up a dinner, and have it served in the dining hall.” Reign said. “As you wish M’Lord.” The servant said with a bow and he ran out of the room. The three of them walked into the dining hall and sat down. Everyone sat in silence for a few moments, and then Reign spoke up. “I am thinking about getting started on making the preparations for the ceremony for you and Sarah when we wake tomorrow.” He said looking at Micah. Micah nodded and smiled. “I think that is a wonderful idea dear.” Elizabeta said. “I think the three of us will get other things together.” Elizabeta said again. “I also think a trip to Sandviken is in order.” Reign said leaning back in his chair. “Yes it’s about that time of the month.” Elizabeta said with a smile. A knock came on the door. “Enter” Reign said and three servants came into the room each carrying three trays, and they all went and set their tray in front of each of them.
They each sat and ate in silence. Once they all had finished, Micah stood up. “Day is almost to break would you like me to escort you to your chambers?” he asked. Reign looked at Elizabeta. “No Micah, I think we can get it, you need to get some sleep, you’ve have had a stressful day.” Elizabeta said. Micah nodded and bowed to them and then turned around and went up to his bedroom.
Once he was in and had the door closed, he leaned against it breathed a couple of deep breaths and closed his eyes. He then undressed leaving his clothes on the floor and then lay down on the bed and sank deep into the covers and fell asleep.
Reign and Elizabeta got up from the table; Reign walked over to Elizabeta and held out his arm to her. “Shall we?” He asked with a smile. “We shall.” She said sliding her arm into his and they both walked to their Chambers and they got themselves ready to sleep through the day.
The day light brought the usual busyness.
Micah tossed and turned moaned and cried in his sleep, with a bit of a scream he reached over to Sarah’s side of the bed and he grabbed nothing but the sheets. When he did that it brought him back to his senses. He looked over at his hand and sighed, he then got up and put some clothes on and went down to the room where Sarah was.
He knocked on the door and then opened it just enough so that he could poke his head into the room. He looked around the room and then to the bed where he saw Sarah lying there. He stood there for a second or two and watched her to make sure that she was still breathing, and when he saw that she still was he slinked into the room and went over to the bed and kneeled down next to it and took Sarah’s hand. “It’s still warm.” He muttered. He folded his fingers around her hand gently and then stood up he leaned over and kissed her on the forehead. “I miss you my wife, the bed is cold and empty with out you.” He said. “Then why don’t you join me.” a whisper came from the covers. Micah jumped and looked down at her. He smiled at her. “How are you my wife?” he asked kneeling down again. Sarah turned her head and looked at him and smiled. “I am well, Doctor Malleus said that all went smoothly and I should be up and about by the time he gets back.” She said with a weak smile. Micah smiled back. He lifted Sarah’s hand to his lips and he kissed her knuckles. Sarah patted the bed next to her. “There is plenty of room for the both of us.” She said. Micah nodded and stood up and walked over to the other side of the bed and gently got into the bed and lay down. Sarah gently slid herself over towards Micah and she laid her head on his shoulder, and there she fell asleep. Micah leaned his head over slightly just so that he could touch her and he took her hand his and there he fell asleep next to her.
The day went on as usual. Reign and Elizabeta awoke to find that Micah was not in there waiting for them. “He must have had a rough night with Sarah not in the bed with him.” Elizabeta said. Reign nodded and picked up the two glasses and handed one to Elizabeta. Elizabeta drank hers and set the glass on the table. “I think that today I am going to go into the village and pay a visit to the Mayor.” Reign said. Elizabeta smiled and nodded,” I am going to start working with some of the servants around here and get this ceremony planed out, plus I am going to go and check on Micah and Sarah, I am concerned about them.” Elizabeta said. Reign nodded, and pulled a shirt over his head and pulled on a pair of black leather breeches and cinched a belt around his waist. “Before you leave Love will you help me with my dress?” She asked looking at Reign over her shoulder. Reign walked over to her and took the laces and began tightening them each time pulling Elizabeta closer to him. When he had finished tying the laces he wrapped his arms around her waist, and leaned down and kissed her neck. Elizabeta giggled.
Reign released Elizabeta and kissed her on top of the head and tucked his belt into the other loops and he kissed Elizabeta again and then walked out of the bedroom. Reign walked into the sitting room and looked at Sabin. “Come on Sabin we are going to the village.” He said slapping his hand on his hip. Sabin jumped up and ran out the door a head of Reign. Reign laughed and walked out behind him and walked into the stables.
Elizabeta walked out of the bedroom and signed. She noticed a maid servant busying herself dusting one of the paintings. “Marsha.” Elizabeta called out. The Maidservant jumped and looked at Elizabeta and bowed “Yes M’Lady?” She asked. “Would you please go and collect everyone and bring them out into the garden.” Elizabeta asked with a smile. “Yes Your Grace.” Marsha said with excitement. “Right away M’Lady.” She said with a bow and ran off into the hallway. Elizabeta could hear her calling out to everyone telling them to meet out in the garden.
Elizabeta looked around the room and signed again, wishing that Sarah was here with her right now. Just as soon as she finished that though Micah walked into the room and Elizabeta smiled. “How is Sarah?” She asked. Micah smiled “She is doing well.” He said. “You couldn’t sleep alone could you?” She giggled. Micah blushed and laughed as well. “No, I woke up in the middle of the night; I went down to Sarah’s room to see how she was doing. She too was awake.” He said. Elizabeta nodded and smiled “I understand.” She said. “Is Master Reign here?” He asked. Elizabeta shook her head. “He and Sabin went into the village.” She said. Micah nodded. “Though I have sent for the Servants to meet in the garden, we must prepare for the up coming ceremony.” She said. Micah nodded again. “It seems I came just in time.” He said with a smile. Elizabeta nodded. “Everyone should be in the garden by now; I hear murmurs coming from the garden” She said. Micah nodded and offered his arm to Elizabeta and they both walked out into the garden.
